Guatemala is a country located in Central America and is known for its rich history and diverse culture. With its varied landscapes, from volcanoes to lush jungles to beautiful white sand beaches, Guatemala offers a multitude of opportunities for exploration and adventure.
The ancient ruins of Mayan civilizations, such as Tikal and El Mirador, attract history and archaeology enthusiasts from all over the world. Guatemala also boasts a vibrant culture, with colorful festivals and ancestral traditions that continue to this day. Local markets abound with handicrafts, colorful textiles and delicious traditional dishes. With its warm and welcoming people, Guatemala is a country to discover and enjoy. So let's get on with the adventure!
My partner and I took a trip to Guatemala 15 years after my first visit, when I took Spanish lessons and visited the country. We noticed many changes and a significant development in tourism. Our itinerary took us to Antigua, Lake Attitlan, Quetzaltenango, the Altiplano and Todos Santos, via Semuc Champey and its magnificent waterfalls. We also visited the island of Flores, explored the Rio Dulce and enjoyed the superb Caribbean coastline. This trip allowed us to rediscover the beauty of this enchanting country, and to see just how much it has changed over the years.

The temple of Tikal is an emblematic archaeological site located in the heart of the Guatemalan jungle. It is an ancient Mayan city that flourished between 400 and 900 AD. With its imposing pyramids, palaces and carved stelae, Tikal offers a fascinating insight into Mayan civilization. The most famous temple is the Temple of the Great Jaguar, which stands majestically in the middle of the central plaza. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding ruins, the dense canopy and the many tropical birds that inhabit the region. Tikal is not only a historic site, but also a place of incredible natural beauty, offering visitors a unique and memorable experience.
