Returning to a Place I Love
Several years ago, I embarked on a journey that took me to Peru, a country so rich in landscapes and culture that I quickly fell in love with it. Recently, I had the chance to return, but this time I decided to explore the less touristy northern part. Along the way, I wanted to rekindle old friendships and discover new hidden gems that the north has to offer.
A Surf Enthusiast's Dream
One of the main highlights of my trip was visiting numerous surf spots along the northern coast. If you're a surf lover like me, you'll find the waves here absolutely exhilarating. Each spot offered something unique, from challenging waves to serene, picturesque settings. The local surfers I met were incredibly welcoming and shared tips on the best times to catch the perfect wave. Surfing in the north of Peru is a must-do for anyone looking to experience the country's natural beauty in a different way.
Exploring the Hinterland
Besides surfing, I spent several days walking in the hinterland. The scenery was nothing short of breathtaking, with sweeping vistas and diverse flora and fauna. These walks gave me a much deeper appreciation for Peru's varied landscapes. I wandered through quaint villages, interacted with locals, and learned about their unique ways of life. Each step taken on these trails reinforced why I fell in love with Peru in the first place.
Reuniting with Old Friends
A truly heartwarming aspect of my journey was catching up with Peruvian friends I'd met on my previous trip. It felt like I'd never left. Sharing stories, enjoying home-cooked meals, and simply being in their company were some of the most memorable parts of my adventure. Their hospitality and warmth added a layer of familiarity to my travels, making me feel right at home.
The Never-Ending Desire to Return
This adventure confirmed something I already knew: Peru is a country like no other, and the more time I spend here, the more it feels like a second home. There is still so much to discover, so many more experiences waiting to be had. I dream of going back to explore even more of what this incredible country has to offer. Until then, I carry the memories of this trip with a heart full of gratitude and excitement for future adventures.
